Chapter 22:
When I was 15, Chen Xinghe and I entered high school together.
Chen Xinghe became even more handsome, with beautiful peach blossom eyes and sharp features.
His temperament was gentle and refined.
Just that alone made him a prominent figure in school.
Not to mention, Chen Xinghe always topped the class.
I was so jealous.
A good-looking, kind, and talented young man.
And then there's me.
I had a well-developed athletic physique, yet I was a math idiot.
So frustrated.
I looked at the gap between me and Chen Xinghe on the ranking list, and an inexplicable sense of inferiority arose within me.
Especially since our families were neighbors, we were naturally compared.
My mother came back once and found out about my grades: "You scored so poorly? What's wrong with your brain?" My father chimed in from the side, "Just be happy, girls don't need to work too hard.
Besides, you have your younger brother." My younger brother was just born that year, a small wrinkly bundle.
I thought my parents didn't come home because they were busy with work.
But after my brother was born, my parents wanted to stay at home every day.
Even my father's cold face had a smile.
I held my test paper and wanted to ask my father why I got a certain question wrong.
My father pushed me away, "Go play, don't bother me." My mother was the same.
She would rather hold my brother than explain a math problem to me.
They clearly understood, but they seemed to have no interest in me at all.
