Chapter 8
It rained outside the window all night long.
When I woke up in the morning, I noticed that many of the tender green leaves had fallen.
Shen Wangjin had left early.
I sat in front of the mirror, staring at the marks on my neck, feeling a little dazed.
Suddenly, Shen Wangjin messaged me.
"Are you awake?" "Yeah, good morning..." Shen Wangjin: "Let's have lunch together at noon?" Since I had a project today that would conveniently pass by their company, I readily agreed.
I dressed up and hastily opened the door, only to be greeted by Jiang Zhihuai with dark circles under his eyes.
Cigarette butts littered the doorstep.
It seemed like he had been waiting there all night.
He heard some noise and sluggishly stood up, "Xu Shichu." I realized what was happening and immediately closed the door, but he still managed to slip through.
Jiang Zhihuai leaned against the door with one hand, staring at me intently, "Xu Shichu, I know what you're thinking.
You're only with my brother for revenge, right? If you want to cause trouble, come after me, don't cause trouble for Shen Wangjin." He was quite self-absorbed.
"Get lost, I made it clear that we have nothing to do with each other." "Whether we have something to do with each other is not up to you to decide." Jiang Zhihuai's voice was hoarse and his eyes were red, "Do you think you can just give me back the money and everything will be fine? Let me tell you, it's impossible." "You wanted money, right? I'll give you however much you want." Jiang Zhihuai took out a black card and threw it at my feet, "This money is enough to support you for a lifetime.
Pick it up and we can reconcile." As soon as he finished speaking, the hallway lights went out.
The dim light couldn't make out the expression on Jiang Zhihuai's face.
I just found it ridiculous.
Couldn't he understand human language? I kicked Jiang Zhihuai's knee, causing him pain and making him crouch down.
"Does it hurt?" I coldly looked at him.
"Compared to the pain I endured years ago, it's far from enough." "I no longer like you, I advise you not to act foolishly." I slammed the door and brushed past him.
When I turned the corner of the stairs, Jiang Zhihuai spoke in a gloomy voice, "Xu Shichu, do you think Shen Wangjin is better than me?" I shouted at him in anger, "He's more enduring than you." After saying that, I ignored Jiang Zhihuai's pale face and turned my head to rush downstairs.
At the stairwell, I saw Shen Wangjin who had been waiting there.
His arrogant demeanor instantly vanished.
Help me...
I hope they didn't hear everything.
Shen Wangjin glanced at me indifferently, "Get in the car." He was completely different from the way he comforted me and said nice things last night.
I cautiously followed behind him, and as I was about to get into the car, I held onto his coat.
Shen Wangjin paused and looked at me sideways, "What's wrong?" "I didn't mean it just now." "Hmm?" I whispered, "I did it just to irritate him..." "I don't mind." I blushed at the memory of last night.
Although we didn't go all the way, I still had some understanding of it.
Well...I shouldn't lie.
In contrast, Shen Wangjin acted as if nothing had happened and dealt with his work as usual.
He kept his personal and professional matters separate.
I stole a glance at him and sent a message to my friend.
"What are people like who don't want to take responsibility after being intimate?" "Cold and distant, they avoid the topic." My friend asked hesitantly, "Did Shen Wangjin get intimate with you?" "Yeah..." "Did it go further?" "We didn't have time, the secretary called him away..." My friend thought for a while, "Why don't you try again?"
"One time inexperienced, twice experienced, you know?" I was absorbed in my own thoughts when Shen Wangjin's sudden words startled me.
"There's been a change in plans, would you like to accompany me to a dinner party tonight?" I regained my senses and glanced at him nervously.
"Oh, okay." "I'll pick you up after work."
