Chapter 8
Except for a few close friends, no one knew where I was studying my graduate program, let alone the fact that it was the same school as Xing Liang's.
I thought it would be difficult to know without deliberately inquiring.
Fang Yanliang fell silent.
He seemed to have made a decision, and his eyes suddenly filled with light, "Actually, I have always..." The sudden ringing of the phone interrupted Fang Yanliang's words.
I picked up my phone from the sofa where I had left it, and saw that it was Xing Liang calling.
Fang Yanliang glanced at it, his eyes dimmed quietly.
"I'll take the call." Feeling embarrassed under Fang Yanliang's gaze, I got up and went to answer by the window.
Xing Liang asked me on the other end of the phone, "Did you get hacked?" "Yes." "Are you okay?" "I'm fine." After a pause, he asked again, "Was that message to Fang Yanliang sent by the hacker who hacked your account?" "Do you have something to tell me?" I asked like this.
In my second year of graduate school, Xing Liang asked me to be his girlfriend.
Actually, before this happened, we had only had a few meals together because we were in the same school.
I didn't know how he came to like me.
I guess he just wanted to be in a relationship and anyone would do.
I declined.
After that, he didn't show any ambiguous intentions, continued to hang out with me, but I deliberately distanced myself from him.
Xing Liang talked endlessly on the other end of the phone, but I listened in silence, not paying attention at all.
My thoughts revolved around Fang Yanliang sitting on the sofa.
His back looked lonely, enveloped in shadows, and seemed particularly downcast.
Why? I thought like this.
Xing Liang asked, "Is your relationship with Fang Yanliang fake?" Suddenly feeling tired, I rubbed my throbbing temples and wanted to hang up the phone.
Suddenly, Fang Yanliang on the sofa stood up.
He walked briskly towards me, his steps carrying a breeze.
In my bewildered gaze, he snatched my phone, as if understanding my inner thoughts, and pressed the end button.
I stared at him blankly, and there was a flicker of light in his eyes.
It seemed stubborn.
He said, "Don't call him." "Why?" I instinctively asked.
"Because I will be jealous," he replied.
I suddenly widened my eyes.
He said, "I like you." "I have liked you all this time when you liked Xing Liang," he continued.
