Chapter 13:
Tu Yan was continuously amazed by how willful he could be in front of Gu Chenbai.
Before meeting Gu Chenbai, he had never displayed such childish behavior.
He was distant and didn't engage deeply with most people, so the general opinion of him was consistent - he was described as having artistic pursuits if put nicely, or difficult to get along with and arrogant if put bluntly.
Nobody described him as cute, except Gu Chenbai.
He always remembered Gu Chenbai saying he was like a little bunny.
If someone else said that, he might have immediately become angry and made it difficult for that person, but when Gu Chenbai said it, he felt his heart skip a beat, as if something had been seen through.
He could only quickly turn around and put on his mask, not giving Gu Chenbai any chance.
Gu Chenbai's kindness towards him seemed endless.
Even though he said hurtful things, Gu Chenbai would still smile at him tenderly.
Once, he spoke without thinking and mentioned something about disabled people.
After saying it, he immediately realized he had gone too far and shut his mouth quickly, anxiously glancing at Gu Chenbai from the corner of his eye.
He saw Gu Chenbai picking up a cane and walking toward the kitchen.
Tu Yan's heart jumped, thinking if this person was going to get a knife.
But to his surprise, Gu Chenbai came out holding a fruit platter.
He put the fruit plate in front of Tu Yan and asked him to eat the fruit.
Tu Yan lowered his head and saw that they were all his favorites.
"There is something urgent in the company that needs my attention.
Dinner will be a little late tonight.
If you're hungry, you can have some fruits first, okay?" Tu Yan nodded blankly, then watched Gu Chenbai walk into the study to start his remote work.
Gu Chenbai's walking was not very limping; he exercised regularly, had good balance, and was quite skilled in using a cane.
If one didn't look carefully, they wouldn't even notice his right leg disability.
Perhaps because Tu Yan usually took care of him so well, Tu Yan sometimes forgot that Gu Chenbai was the one who needed to be taken care of.
He suddenly felt that Gu Chenbai's back seemed a bit lonely.
His mood also worsened.
So when Gu Chenbai finished work and was about to go to the kitchen to cook dinner, Tu Yan stopped him and said, "Gu Chenbai, let's go out for dinner tonight? Or maybe watch a movie?" Gu Chenbai stood in place and smiled, "Yan Yan, do you have another unequal treaty for me to sign?" "I don't have one," Tu Yan blushed and said annoyedly, "If you don't believe me, forget it.
You can go or not." After speaking, he was about to leave.
Gu Chenbai stood in front of him and offered a helping hand, "Well, how coincidental, how did you know that I particularly wanted to watch a movie today?" Tu Yan hmphed, assumed a reluctant posture, and said, "Oh, then which one do you want to watch?" "Your latest movie, 'City Train.' It probably hasn't been taken off yet, and I haven't had the chance to watch it," Gu Chenbai said.
"Why do you have to watch the one I acted in?" "Just want to watch," Gu Chenbai said with a smile.
Tu Yan muttered "boring" and quickly ran to the bedroom to change clothes.
He applied a new restraint patch and armed himself from head to toe, with a mask and sunglasses, almost scaring Gu Chenbai when he stood beside him.
Because they hadn't eaten dinner, Gu Chenbai forced Tu Yan to eat a sandwich on the way, not letting him treat popcorn and cola as a meal.
When they arrived at the cinema, Tu Yan was still sulking.
Gu Chenbai bought him a large bucket of popcorn to make him feel better.
They sat in the corner of the cinema, although the viewing angle was not great, it was inconspicuous enough, and safe.
The movie began, and Tu Yan ate popcorn without much interest.
His thoughts wandered several times, unable to focus on the movie because it was filmed by him and Qi He.
At that time, they would hide from the camera in almost every scene, rolling their eyes at each other and calling each other idiots, despite playing a sweet couple in the drama.
So now Tu Yan felt very irritable, unsure if it was because of Qi He or because Gu Chenbai was sitting next to him.
Gu Chenbai, on the other hand, was watching attentively without moving, his eyes fixed on the big screen.
Tu Yan threw the popcorn into his hand, but he didn't pay attention, just held it in his hand and continued watching the movie.
When the movie reached its final part, Tu Yan was about to fall asleep.
In a daze, he heard screams from the people around him, and he suddenly opened his eyes, thinking that something had happened.
But when he looked up, he saw himself and Qi He kissing on the big screen.
It was just a fake kissing scene, nothing to be surprised about.
Tu Yan scoffed in his heart, then prepared to close his eyes again.
But just as his eyelids were about to touch, he suddenly woke up.
He swallowed, turned to look at Gu Chenbai, and indeed, Gu Chenbai was not looking at the screen.
He lowered his head slightly, furrowing his brows.
Tu Yan saw a "displeased" expression on Gu Chenbai's face for the first time.
He felt inexplicably guilty and tugged at Gu Chenbai's sleeve, but Gu Chenbai withdrew his arm without any expression, placing it on his leg as if he didn't feel anything.
