Chapter 6:
He started the car, heading towards his house.
We didn't speak for the entire journey.
I huddled in the passenger seat, feeling drowsy from the gradually rising effect of the medicine.
In a daze, I dreamed of when I was fourteen years old.
I got into a fight with a group of thugs for standing up for a girl who was extorted.
I returned home with a bruised face, wanting my brother to avenge me.
But I ran into Shi Yu instead.
"Lu Huanzhou told me to come back and tell you that he stayed at school for rehearsals today." He hooked his jacket, his eyes cold as if they could freeze, "It doesn't matter, finding trouble for revenge is the same no matter who does it." Compared to Lu Huanzhou, who loved books since childhood and studied finance, Shi Yu was like a wild little wolf.
He had everyone in the vicinity obediently complying with him.
He casually picked up a baseball bat and found those thugs in the smoky billiard hall.
"Brother, got a light?" Two cigarettes met, lit up, and then pressed forcefully against the man's face.
In that person's wailing, he laughed, tossed away the cigarette butt, "Sorry, my sister doesn't like it when I smoke." I watched Shi Yu holding that baseball bat, beating those guys until their faces were bruised, and they fled in panic.
Then he went outside, found me by the corridor window.
"I've avenged you." He arched an eyebrow, "So, does Shi Yu gege (brother) seem more reliable than your real brother?" Later, when Lu Huanzhou returned from school and heard about this, he calmly glanced at Shi Yu, "Only those with simple minds and well-developed limbs always think about solving problems with violence." Shi Yu wasn't angry either, he just smiled and turned to look at me, "Yinyin, Lu Huanzhou is mocking you.
How rude." Lu Huanzhou lightly laughed, "How can my little sister be like certain people?" Saying that, he closed his computer, stood up, "This matter isn't over yet." "The rest, you don't need to worry about." In a few days, he used some means to send those thugs to the police station.
...
I opened my eyes and felt a slight dampness at the corner.
Looking around, I realized that the car had stopped outside Shi Yu's house.
He was no longer in the car.
I glanced slightly and saw him leaning against the front of the car, seemingly smoking.
"Shi Yu gege." I pushed open the car door and called out, my voice somewhat hoarse.
Shi Yu turned around, extinguishing the cigarette in his hand effortlessly, "Awake?" "What did you dream about?" I slowly exhaled, gazing directly into his eyes, "I dreamt of when I was fourteen, and you helped me fight.
The excuse you used was that my sister doesn't like it when I smoke." He suddenly froze.
The color of his ears slowly turned into a noticeable red.
"I no longer have a brother.
Shi Yu, would you still be willing to treat me as your sister?" I said, lightly tugging at his sleeve, tilting my head slightly.
I presented my face in the most pitiful and weak posture, with full confidence in my acting skills.
However, Shi Yu just stared at me intently.
After a moment, a faintly rebellious expression in his eyes was replaced by an inexplicably dark emotion.
I felt anxious, about to recall if my acting was not up to standard and if he had seen through my feigned helplessness.
But he suddenly spoke up, saying, "Of course." I breathed a sigh of relief, following behind Shi Yu as we walked towards his home.
After walking a few steps, he suddenly stopped, slightly turning his head and fixing his gaze on my face, as if it fell on the distant and elusive lights.
He said, "If one day...
you no longer want to be my sister, it's fine too."
