Chapter 8:
I shrugged my shoulders.
Right in front of him, I called Dad again.
I really didn't lie.
Dad has an acquaintance nearby.
I put him on speakerphone.
After hearing Dad's voice, my little brother gradually relaxed his guard.
I looked around and saw a small man standing still, looking around.
At first glance, I recognized that this man was the one I was in contact with.
There was a black van parked next to him.
I lowered my voice and said to my brother, 'Did you see clearly ahead? That's Dad's friend, go over there.' 'Hurry up, mom just sent me a message saying that the police are already reviewing the surveillance.' Only then did my little brother panic and run over.
As I watched my little brother getting closer to the man, I also called the man: 'Uncle, my brother has arrived, he's the tall one in black clothes.' 'You should accompany him first, my mom is in the hospital and I can't leave.' 'Then I won't go for now.' I watched as the man took my brother into the van.
The van then drove off.
I couldn't describe the feeling in my heart.
I slowly returned to the hospital.
My mom was lying on the hospital bed with a swollen and bruised face.
As soon as she saw me, she anxiously asked, 'Where's your brother? Is he okay?' 'I already told Dad, he asked a friend to take my brother to his place to lay low.' Only then did my mom feel relieved and nodded, 'Your brother definitely didn't mean it, he's just a bit mischievous.
That man actually beat me like this...' 'So what if she had a miscarriage? It's not like she can't have another child!' My mom became angrier as she spoke, 'That man even punched your brother.
He's never suffered such grievances since he was young...' My mom wiped away tears as she spoke.
I coldly stared at her, saying nothing.
Perhaps she still didn't know that her precious son would never come back again.
