Chapter 7:
Nanzhe's last sentence automatically triggered my tendency to argue with him.
After so many years, it had become a reflex.
"As if it would be you!" I scoffed and looked him up and down with a critical gaze.
"I told you not to be so conceited.
Your face is the only decent thing about you.
If I didn't mistake you for someone else, I wouldn't have kissed you." As soon as the words left my mouth, I felt a sudden pang of regret.
Heaven and earth, I'm just used to teasing Nanzhe, and subconsciously, I didn't want to praise him.
If I offend him too much, the system will debuff me, and he will be the one to remove it, won't he?! Nanzhe, who was inexplicably mocked by me, showed a faint in his eyes, but the curve of his smile didn't change.
He gave up playing with his phone and pointed at himself, saying, "How could you shamelessly say those three words to someone's face? " Still so narcissistic, it seems he's not mad.
I let out a sigh of relief but couldn't resist the urge to be snarky again.
"I really don't understand how a narcissist like you can have so many fangirls.
I think Xu Xuezhang is much more handsome than you." Well, that sentence was made up by me.
Xu Xuezhang is indeed handsome, but he lacks the kind of aura Nanzhe has.
I can't explain what that aura is, but when the two of them stand together, Nanzhe is more eye-catching.
Of course, I would never admit that my arch-enemy is handsome.
"Oh?" He made a monosyllabic sound and raised an eyebrow, looking at me.
"So you mistook me for Xu Jiahe, and you were actually planning to kiss him?" Nanzhe leaned closer to me, a scoff escaping his mouth.
"Qu Zhichu, you should visit an eye clinic when you go to the hospital, I'm quite worried about you." He was clearly mocking my eyesight.
"Mind your own business." "Fine, I won't interfere.
But you should clarify it on the school forum yourself.
After all, it's just a 'misunderstanding'." He emphasized the last two words.
However, my attention was caught by the mention of the school forum.
I looked at him with a puzzled expression and asked, "What forum? Why do I need to clarify anything?" Nanzhe handed me his phone and then crossed his arms, leaning back, and gestured for me to take a look.
With curiosity, I looked at the screen and discovered that the page was a post.
The title was in bold, saying "Shocking! The Beauty and the Handsome Guy Actually Did This on the Basketball Court!" This sensationalist title made me suspect that the original poster was a student in the journalism department.
While silently criticizing this, I continued reading.
The high-definition photo on the first floor caught my eye and shocked me.
"Who took this photo!" I completely lost control of my expression.
The main characters in the photo were me and Nan Zhe, who was wearing a basketball uniform.
The frozen image happened to be me leaning in to kiss him with a pale face, and Nan Zhe's eyes surprisingly showed a hint of tenderness.
The combination of a handsome man, a beautiful woman, a princess hold, and a kiss made this post explode.
The comments below were even more outrageous.
"Who took this? I won't tell!" "I was there! It seems like the campus belle came to watch the campus hunk play basketball.
She felt unwell and collapsed, but no one dared to help her.
The campus hunk rushed over and carried her princess-style, and then they kissed! So sweet!" "May I ask who these handsome guy and beautiful woman are? (I am clueless)" "The campus belle from the Chinese department, Qu Zhichu, and the campus hunk from the law department, Nan Zhe!" "They're the ultimate couple, praise!" "Count me in! They must be a real couple, I don't care!" Me:...
So many comments.
Who would have thought that one day someone would ship me with my archenemy? And no one finds the couple name cringy when they hear it! I furrowed my brow and was about to reply to the comment about being a "real couple" with the words "It's a misunderstanding." But before I typed a single word, someone snatched my phone with a firm hand.
Instinctively, I tried to take it back, but Nan Zhe easily dodged with his outstretched arm.
"Explain yourself using your own phone," he raised an eyebrow and said.
I snapped back to reality, almost forgetting that this was his account.
Just as I was about to retrieve my phone, I heard Nan Zhe's strangely toned voice say, "No need to clarify." "Why?" I asked, surprised.
"It has already been accepted as the truth." Me:?
