Chapter 3:
Jiang Yu didn't contact me again.
When I stood downstairs at the company, I took a deep breath.
After graduating, I entered her company.
I gradually climbed up from the bottom, but no one ever discovered our relationship.
The number of times I met her was even less than the number of times she met ordinary employees.
Last week, a senior executive resigned, and this Monday the successor was to be announced.
Everyone said that this position was perfect for me.
At least, I thought so too until I received the diagnosis report.
I happened to meet a colleague in the corridor, and he greeted me and approached me with a smile on his face, "Zhe ge, don't forget to treat us to a big meal when you get promoted." I smiled and lowered my gaze, "It's not certain yet." "It's only meant for you," he said, holding my arm, "among this group of people, you are the best." When I entered the conference room, Jiang Yu was also there.
I happened to meet her gaze, just for a moment, then looked away as if we were strangers.
"Hello, General Manager Jiang." She didn't look at me and simply nodded.
It was as if the argument we had that night never happened.
People took their seats in the conference room one by one.
Jiang Yu cleared her throat, and my colleague immediately winked at me.
I avoided his gaze by lowering my eyes.
The next second, I heard a familiar name.
"Tang Chu." A familiar figure walked in from outside the door, tall and handsome, with the same sunny smile as before.
Jiang Yu stood by his side and introduced him to everyone, "Mr.
Tang has just returned from overseas and will be the next Vice General Manager."
"Someone subconsciously looked at me and I averted my eyes, looking towards Tang Chu on stage with a bright smile.
There seemed to be a momentary pause in the atmosphere.
Unseen undercurrents were in motion.
I clapped with a smile.
Sparse applause broke the somewhat eerie atmosphere in the conference room.
Tang Chu met my eyes and smiled.
