Chapter 23:
I had already decided on the day to leave.
It was my mother's death anniversary.
It was also my birthday.
But in over twenty years, I have only celebrated my birthday twice.
Both times, Zhou Wei accompanied me.
Jiang Yu didn't know, actually.
I envy others who have mothers.
I hate myself more than anyone else.
When this day came, it was actually a very ordinary day.
My stomachache was as usual.
I ate two buns in the morning, and immediately threw them up.
Then I curled up on the couch, flipping through the photos in my album one by one, and deleting them one by one.
As I deleted the last one, I got up and walked towards the balcony.
Suddenly, there was a loud noise in the living room.
The door of the old-fashioned neighborhood couldn't withstand any movement.
A familiar figure stumbled into my sight.
My sister.
After not seeing her for over ten days, she looked haggard as if she had aged several years.
I guess Zhou Wei told her.
After all, I only mentioned this place to Zhou Wei once.
The woman was disheveled, panting heavily, and her once straight back now hunched over.
Her gaze towards me was shattered.
It was the first time I saw my superior and indifferent sister, with red eyes, pleading to me.
"I was wrong." "A-Zhe." "It was sister's fault--" Her apology came ten-something years late.
But I just looked at her, indifferent, as I stood on the railing.
My sister sobbed uncontrollably.
I was wearing formal attire.
It was meticulously clean.
I bought it at the department store that day.
The floor tiles under my feet were cold.
"Don't jump!" "A-Zhe." "I'm begging you..." "Don't jump--" The wind whistled in my ears.
But I just smiled at Jiang Yu.
Jumping off a building is painful.
Let this be the most painful time.
In this lifetime, I have endured so much suffering, in the next life...
I hope God will be kinder to me.
"Jiang Yu." I softly called her name, stepped on empty air, and uncontrollably fell downward.
I saw her expression turn frantic.
I saw her rushing towards me.
I just smiled.
"I'm going to find mom."
