Chapter 13:
Jiang Haoyan and I chatted in the woods for the whole afternoon.
Mr.
Hou personally came to call us a few times before we lazily adjusted our clothes and walked out of the woods.
Mr.
Hou's face turned pale, and his scrutinizing gaze swept over us a few times.
"Let's go back and have dinner." I looked up and glanced at the sky.
The setting sun hung on the mountainside, about to fall, staining the verdant mountains with a corner of red.
It was clear that there was still some time before the corpse poison started to take effect, so I signaled Jiang Haoyan with my eyes.
Jiang Haoyan understood and reached out to stop Mr.
Hou.
"No! Labor is glorious, and I haven't done enough labor yet! I want to continue planting seedlings, and no one is allowed to leave until that half-acre of land is fully planted!" Mr.
Hou was taken aback.
"What's wrong with you, kid? Just love doing farm work that much?" Jiang Haoyan raised his chin, "I am an honorable Young Pioneer.
Labor creates the world, labor creates the future.
No one can stop me from sowing hope and reaping the fruits through labor!" After saying that, he rolled up his pants and started planting seedlings.
The people next to him were all shocked, and Boss Hou wanted to stop again.
I squinted and looked at him: "Boss Hou, didn't you catch them to work for the villagers? Why are you unhappy when they actually work? Could it be that you have other motives?" As soon as these words came out, Boss Hou's pupils immediately contracted, and he coughed nervously twice.
"Cough cough, just a little problem, love to work or not!" After speaking, he snorted coldly, crossed his arms, and stood next to us, watching.
The elderly group was furious and scolded Jiang Haoyan one by one, but under the gaze of my killing intent, they dared not leave and could only stand in the field, working while grumbling.
Xu Changqing bowed his head and inserted seedlings: "I'll insert your lungs, I'll insert your black heart liver, I'll insert your rotten intestines!" In this way, more than an hour passed, and it was almost dark.
I waved my hand and let Jiang Haoyan come up.
Sure enough, shortly after he came up, the elderly group's corpse poison attacked.
One by one, they stretched out their hands and howled.
"Oh no, the corpse poison is acting up! Boss Hou, I really didn't lie to you.
If we don't find the Resurrection Grass, these people will all die.
You wouldn't want to have worked hard for nothing, right?" While pretending to detoxify them, I quietly took out a small knife and cut the back of their necks, then sprinkled some powdered medicine to let the smell of blood spread in the air.
Boss Hou paused and looked at the elderly group with a conflicted expression.
He casually replied to me and promised to take me to find the Resurrection Grass tomorrow.
